The City of Amarillo is updating the carpet at the Southwest Branch Library—a huge job that will keep the location closed for close to a month beginning Monday, January 15.  The estimated reopening date is Monday, February 19.

Director of Library Services Amanda Barrera says closing the branch is the simplest and safest option.  “Southwest is our busiest location and the largest of our four branch libraries, so the decision to close was not made lightly, but shifting Southwest’s furniture and equipment for the installation, and then getting everything back where it belongs, is not something that can be done safely with patrons in the building.”

While the Southwest Branch is closed, patrons are encouraged to visit one of Amarillo Public Library’s four other locations:
