Amarillo Public Library’s partnership with the City of Amarillo’s Coming Home program continues this month with CAREVEMBER. Throughout November, APL locations will be drop off sites for donations of winter gloves and hygiene items including toothpaste, toothbrushes, and feminine hygiene products. Collected items will be included in Care Kits assembled by members of the United Way Youth Leadership Council.

Coming Home Coordinator Justin Ward hopes CAREVEMBER will build on the success of last month’s SOCKTOBER partnership. “Amarillo showed up in a big way for SOCKTOBER. We set an ambitious goal to collect 1500 pairs of new adult socks, and we were able to exceed that goal thanks to the generosity of the Amarillo community.”

Director of Library Services Amanda Barrera says the community’s response to kindness initiatives has been gratifying. “We are excited to continue our partnership with Coming Home because our community is stronger when our neighbors are safe and healthy.”

Items needed for CAREVEMBER include adult size winter gloves, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and feminine hygiene products, especially maxi- and super-size. Total goals for the project are:

• 1,200 pairs of adult size winter gloves
• 5,232 feminine hygiene maxi pads
• 1,500 toothbrushes
• 1,500 toothpaste tubes
