U.S. Citizenship Lessons Available through Amarillo Public Library Website

Amarillo Public Library cardholders preparing for the US Citizenship exam have a new resource through the library’s website because Transparent Language has added Citizenship lessons to its services!

Follow these steps to access Citizenship lessons:

  1. Visit the Digital Education page at amarillolibrary.org and click on Transparent Language.
  2. Create a user account.
  3. Select English as your language to learn, then choose English Immersion or any other language in the list.
  4. Click on the Browse tab at the top of the screen.
  5. Scroll down in the listings until you find American Citizenship Course (about halfway down the list.)
  6. Click Open to begin learning or click the + button to add all lessons in the course to your Learning Path.

Citizenship Lessons available through Transparent Language include courses in:

  • Constitution and Branches of Government
  • Laws and Civic Responsibilities
  • Colonial American History
  • 1800s American History
  • 1900s and Recent American History
  • Geography, Symbols, and Holidays

Transparent Language is a software system offering online courses in more than 125 languages that has been available to APL cardholders for some time.  The system offers multiple dialects, kids’ lessons, and even video instruction in American Sign Language.
