Classes Will Be Available at Two Library Locations

Amarillo Public Library’s fall term of—FREE—English as a Second Language classes begins soon with registration scheduled for Tuesday, September 5.

This term, classes will be offered at two different locations—the Downtown Library and the East Branch Library—to make it easier for students to attend class.  Pre-registration for the classes is not required, but is appreciated as it helps staff plan for the size of class.

Registration will take place on Tuesday, September 5 from 5:30 to 7 PM at both class locations.

Classes begin the week of September 11 and continue through December 5.

APL has offered free ESL classes to students in the Panhandle region since 2012.  Director of Library Services, Amanda Barrera says that even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the library offered classes with only a few interruptions.  “These classes make an incredible difference in the lives of our students, allowing them to apply for better jobs, take advantage of services, and participate more fully in the community.  We’re very please to return to offering classes at multiple locations to improve out community’s access to these classes.”

Students needing to know more can call 806-378-4245 with questions about classes or registration.
