A new partnership between the Amarillo Public Library and Amarillo Little Theater will make a limited number of tickets available for "check out" by APL cardholders!

APL Director of Services Amanda Barrera says the new initiative fits in well with existing APL programs.  "We've been offering our patrons nontraditional library checkouts through community partnerships for several years, so when ALT approached us with the idea, we were delighted to make it happen.  The new project is similar to the family passes we offer by working with the Amarillo Zoo, Wildcat Bluff Nature Center, and the Don Harrington Discovery Center, but it's also a little like the seed packets available through our partnership with Randall County Master Gardeners."

The first show available under the new program will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and tickets will be available for checkout starting September 1.  Ten tickets will be available to each of two performances: Thursday, September 14th at 7:30 PM and the matinee on Saturday, September 16th at 2:30 PM.

The number of tickets available will be different for each show, and to ensure the greatest number of people will benefit from the program, APL cardholders can check out a maximum of 4 tickets per household, every other month.  Tickets will be available to APL cardholders only and will be available for checkout from the Downtown Library on a first come/first served basis.  Tickets may not be placed on hold.  APL issued tickets may be redeemed at the ALT box office one hour before the show and tickets not picked up by 15 minutes before showtime will be released for resale.

ALT Community Relations Director Annika Spalding says new projects sometimes involve hiccups but the two agencies will be able to get them ironed out.  "I'm so excited for this!  We look forward to expanding our audience and sharing the amazing performances produced at ALT with our community!"

• The Play that Goes Wrong - January 11 through 21
• RENT - February 15 through 25
• ALT Academy's The Little Mermaid - March 22 through 30
• Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility - April 11 through 21
• Monty Python's Spamalot - May 2 through 19
