The Amarillo Public Library is excited to announce free Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) classes beginning February 24 at the East Branch Library. These classes are a great opportunity for anyone in the Amarillo community who wants to learn Spanish or improve their existing skills.
East Branch Library Youth and Family Assistant Elise Sutton, who will teach the classes, says learning Spanish is valuable skill, “Spanish is the second most spoken language in the U.S. and is the official language of 21 countries. Knowing Spanish can help someone get a better job and communicate better with Spanish-speaking members of our community.”
These new, in-person classes are an expansion of existing Amarillo Public Library language resources. The Library offers free English as a Second Language Classes every year, and Transparent Language—an online tool featuring dozens of languages—is available for free to APL cardholders. The library also has a large collection of Spanish-language books, CDs, and DVDs.
Spanish as a Second Language classes begin Saturday, February 24 at 11 AM and will take place every other Saturday at the same time. Please contact the East Branch Library at 806-342-1589 for more information.
