Preliminary
Semiannual UCR FBI preliminary
figures indicate law enforcement
agencies reported an increase of
3.7 percent in the number of violent
crimes in the first half of 2006
compared to the first six months
of 2005. The violent crime category
includes murder, forcible rape,
robbery, and aggravated assault.
Property crimes from January to
June of 2006 decreased 2.6 percent
compared to 2005. Property crimes
include burglary, larceny-theft,
and motor vehicle theft. Data for
arson are not included in property
crime. 2006 figures indicate arson
increased 6.8 percent in the first
half of the year compared to 2005.
