Wednesdays, April 9th – 30th, at 12:15PM @ Central: “Downtown Lunch Time Book Club” Join fellow readers for an ongoing discussion of Cold Sassy Tree led by Loralee Cooley, a member of the Southern Order of Storytellers, which included the book’s author, Olive Ann Burns!
Saturday, April 12th, 2:30PM @ Southwest: “Themes in Southern Literature” AC’s Dr. Mary Dodson shares themes to look for as you read Cold Sassy Tree!
Sunday, April 13th, 2:30PM @ East: “History through Hats”
Love Simpson came to Cold Sassy as a milliner working in Grandpa Blakeslee’s store. Learn how hats reveal the history of their time in an informative program by Viola Moore of the Carson County Square House Museum. Special Story Time and Craft for kids included!
Tuesday, April 22nd, 7:00PM @ North: “Spirituals as Historical Records” Hear spirituals performed and learn about their history with Friends of Amarillo Opera! A special activity for children will be provided.
