Amarillo Reads Winter 2010 |

|
The Amarillo Public Library, Amarillo Globe News and Hastings Entertainment will kick off the third year of the community reading program, AMARILLO READS by celebrating the work of British novelist Jane Austen.
In January and February, AMARILLO READS partners are pulling out all the stops to highlight Jane Austen's books. Two film series are planned-one showing adaptations of the six novels and another airing modern films inspired by Jane Austen's work. The Downtown Lunchtime Book Club will meet every week on Thursday at 12:15 to discuss a different book. Special programs are also planned to help readers learn more about the historic and literary backdrops of the novels. Dr. Elizabeth Morrow Clark of WTAMU will lead Jane Austen's Navy: Napoleonic Wars and the English Home Front, and Dr. Monica Smith Hart, also of WTAMU, will offer The Regency Literary Landscape: Readings and Perspective on Jane Austen. Please check the library calendar for dates and times.
