To borrow items from Amarill Public Library, an Amarillo Public Library card or a card from a member library of the Harrington Library Consortium is required. Amarillo Public Library cards are free to all who live or own property within the Amarillo city limits. Please have proof of address available to staff when applying for an Amarillo Public Library card. Nonresidents may purchase an Amarillo Public Library annual fee card for $15 per year. There is a $30 family rate to provide all members of a family with annual fee cards.

Materials that have not been placed on reserve by another patron may be renewed phone by calling any Amarillo Public Library location. Materials can also be renewed online by visiting http://www.amarillolibrary.org/. An ID number (library card number) and a PIN (obtained by calling any APL location) are required to renew items online.

Fines are $.15 per each day late on all materials excluding videos and DVDs, which are $1.50 per day. Fines of $5 or more will result in the inability to renew or check out items until the balance is paid so that it is less than $5.

There is a checkout limit of 4 videos, 2 DVDs, 1 CD-ROM and 12 CDs per card.
