AMA-CON: Amarillo’s POP CULTURE Celebration

AMA-CON 2015

AMA-CON, Amarillo’s annual pop culture convention celebrates the best in comics, gaming, anime, sci-fi, and everything else geeky and awesome.

AMA-CON 2015 will have cosplay contests, presentations by authors, artists, and performers, vendors of all kinds of crazy things (everything from comic books to steampunk jewelry), anime viewing, gaming tournaments and exhibits—and more.

In 2015, in response to requests from participants and vendors, AMA-CON expands to a two-day event on August 1 & 2, but admission to the con is still the best deal in the geek universe—a two-day pass is just $5.

This year’s AMA-CON will take place:

Saturday, August 1 from 11 AM to 7 PM

Sunday, August 2 from noon to 6 PM

AMA-CON wristbands will go on sale in the Friends Store inside the Downtown Amarillo Public Library one week before the con on July 25—or you can purchase them at the door.

While AMA-CON is primarily a gift to the community from the Friends of the Amarillo Public Library, any funds raised through the con allow Friends to support Library educational services including:

  • AMARILLO READS Community Reading Program
  • Summer Reading Club
  • READ to SUCCEED Adult Reading Skills Tutoring
  • English as a Second Language and US Citizenship Classes

For more information on special guests, contest, tournaments, and programs, visit www.ama-con.com or LIKE AMA-CON on Facebook.
